This is what we saw at a rest area in New Mexico. Yes, John did get out of the car. We saw no rattlesnakes. After this we went on to Santa Fe. We have had rain, rain, rain. Someone told us that we should come out west in the fall because spring is the rainy season. People here in Santa Fe tell us that this is the monsoon season. Yesterday we stayed out of the rain by going to museums. We went to the museum in the Governor's Palace and had a docent with vast knowledge of the history of New Mexico. I thought it was quite interesting that New Mexico had tried to become a state in 1850,1867,1870,1889,1906 and finally becoming a state in 1912. We also went to the Georgia O'Keefe Museum which is very well done. We were so lucky to come at this time because the gallery closes on Sept. 7th for three weeks to change the exhibit. This exhibit had O'Keefe and Ansel Adams. The next one will be O'Keefe and Andy Warhol who I am not to fond of. There was an Arts and Crafts show in the plaza and we saw it whenever there wasn't any rain. Outside of the Governor's Palace the indians set up blankets to sell their wares. I found that they were quite expensive. I would have thought it would be less than in the stores. I will keep looking. Today we are doing the museums on the hill and we expect rain again all day.
